Sergio’s Story
From South Bay roots to business ownership and community service, Sergio’s journey has always been grounded in faith, family, and perseverance.
Sergio Vargas was born in Chula Vista and grew up in San Ysidro and South San Diego. The son of Mexican immigrants who later became U.S. citizens, he learned early the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. After spending part of his youth in both the United States and Mexico, Sergio went on to earn a degree in International Business and began building a career in heavy equipment sales. Over the years, he helped grow multiple businesses alongside his family, expanding into equipment sales, auctions, and transportation.
Beyond business, Sergio’s greatest pride is his family. He and his wife have been married for 20 years and are raising three children together, guided by faith, service, and a strong commitment to community. Their family has remained actively involved in ministry and outreach, always looking for ways to serve others in meaningful and practical ways. Today, Sergio is bringing that same mindset to public service—offering Chula Vista honest leadership, a business owner’s perspective, and a deep desire to help build a stronger future for local families.
